Samba Instructor

Seline Erdal

Seline is a passionate and experienced Samba instructor and performer, blending her background in Nellydance with her love of all the rhythms of Brazil. Since 2019, she has been an established performer in Melbourne, known for her warm energy and sound technique when it comes to representing Samba no pé as a professional artist. Seline's commitment to Samba extends beyond performing professionally, incorporating strength training and fitness as crucial elements in developing herself as a powerful, well-rounded dancer. She has also trained in classical dance styles to enhance her technical skill and style as a Samba dancer.

Seline has been dancing Samba since 2017 but her journey intensified in 2020 when she began training online with Sasha Jay. She has travelled to Sydney multiple times to continue her growth with Sashya as well as learn from other Escola de Samba Sydney instructors. Her love for samba has also led her to Rio de Janeiro to train with world-renowned directors and artists including Carlinhos Salgueiro, Mayara Lima, Evelyn Bastos, Marcio Dellawegah, Metodo MP, Alex Coutinho and many more. A career highlight was her participation in Rio Carnaval 2023 as an official Passista for Unidos de Bangu. She looks forward to returning to Brazil for cultural immersion and to dance many more times in Carnaval.

Seline brings a unique blend of energy, athleticism, and passion to the Escola instructor team. Seline's approach to samba has always been about nailing the basics, firmly believing that dancers need to learn the rules before they break them. She believes samba is about power, culture, history and freedom, and aims to bring out that awareness in those that she teaches. Her classes combine technical precision with self-expression, inspiring students to embrace the essence of samba while honouring its rich cultural heritage.
